Safety Guidelines
- Volunteer ratio is 1 adult per 4 children for combined classroom or for children birth up to2 years old.
- Volunteer ratio is 1 adult per 8 children for 2 - 4 years old.
- The children are split into age-appropriate rooms in the nursery. The youngest children ages birth to one year are in the far right room. Children ages 2 and 3 are in the far left room.
- Nursery care is available 15 minutes before a scheduled activity/event and parents are expected to pick up their children immediately after worship or the event is over to relieve the childcare volunteers.
- Each parent must sign their child in. Children who regularly attend will have a name tag with a designated number attached. One name tag is attached to the child, another is attached to a diaper bag (if needed) and the parent takes the third one. Nursery Staff will create a new tag for the new children with their name and a designated number for the day. When picking up your child, the parent tag is returned to the Nursery staff to ensure they match.
- Every person that works with children at New Summit's facility is required to read the child caregiver protection policy and complete a background check form. For your convenience, the Child Caregiver and Protection policy is located on this website.
Parent Expectations for Worship Services
- To ensure sufficient care is available during worship services, we encourage each parent with a child in the nursery to serve by volunteering in the classroom.
- The nursery schedule is created in 6 - 8 week blocks and volunteers sign up for the time-frame and worship service in which they prefer to serve. At the 9:00 service nursery children are combined, birth up to 4 years old. At the 10:30 am service children are in 2 small groups - birth up to 2 years old and 2 up to 4 years old.
- We understand at times a volunteer may have a schedule conflict or an emergency occur. If a volunteer wishes to change their date we ask the volunteer to coordinate with the other volunteers to trade days. If a schedule change is made, please let Joice Trout know, 478-5144,
