Read the Bible in 2009 Print E-mail

Jesus asks us to follow him. We cannot follow someone if we don’t know where they are and if we don’t listen to what they say! For centuries followers of Jesus have known that Jesus speaks to us in the words of the Old and New Testament of the Bible.

The Bible is God’s Word. The Bible is God’s love letter to the world. The Bible is our Owner’s Manual. If you want to know where Jesus is, read the Bible. If you want to know what Jesus is saying, listen to the Bible.

Reading the Bible is the deepest expression of prayer. Think about it. Prayer is talking to and listening to God. We have the talking part down pretty well, right? But what about the listening part? Where could we go to listen to what God is saying? Is there something we could do that would put us directly in touch with what God is saying? When we read the Bible we are actually praying as we listen to God’s Word.

In 2009, make a commitment to explore your relationship with Jesus using the Bible as your guide. To help, we’ve created this section with study guides, tips for purchasing a Bible, and reading plans.
